Security Awareness Courses
(HEAT / F-SAT / SAT)

Our Security Awareness Courses are designed to prepare you for visiting countries assessed as Hostile or Fragile.  The training focuses on giving sound, practical advice on a range of security, safety and health situations that could be encountered whilst working or travelling in these challenging environments.

Course Information

  • 21 – 23 April 2020 (HEAT/F-SAT)
  • 18 – 20 June 2020
  • 11 – 13 August 2020
  • 20 – 22 October 2020

1 – 4 Days

There are a variety of risks and threats arising from travelling and working in hostile and challenging environments, whether in a humanitarian, disaster or war zone situation.   Levels of crime and violence vary as does the risk of getting caught up in a terrorist attack.

Absolute safety in these circumstances can never be guaranteed, however, by being aware of the risks, adapting to the environment and taking common sense precautions the likelihood of becoming a victim can be significantly reduced.

Our 3 Security Awareness Courses have been designed to encompass all the issues relating to personnel travelling and working in such locations.  Which one you choose will depend on the depth of knowledge required and the level of risk/threat anticipated.

Hostile Environment Security Awareness Training – HEAT

Our most in-depth course run over 3 and 4 days will increase participants’ knowledge of the multiple threats in hostile or fragile field environments and provide them with ways and means of dealing with them in an effective manner.

It is designed for those working in challenging conditions including hostile environments, of poor governance, natural disasters, conflict and with the threat of kidnap, carjacking and robbery.

The objectives are:

  • Increasing Awareness
  • Recognising Threats
  • Risk Avoidance

If required the 4th day is all about First Aid, survival in remote areas.

Fragile Security Awareness Training – F-SAT

Run over 2 and 3-days, concentrates on awareness and risk whilst travelling and working in what would be classed as a fragile country.  On the 3rd day, it’s all about scenarios that will also include First Aid survival in remote areas.

Security Awareness Training – SAT

Our 1-day SAT course focuses on security awareness in countries where the threat of crime is high but it’s not in a conflict situation or close to it.  A great course for students travelling for PhD research, journalists or business travellers.

The courses provide participants with skills and knowledge which will give them the confidence to deal effectively with the challenges they are likely to face whilst travelling in these environments. Combining theory with practical, each course devotes considerable time and attention to real-world scenario exercises to give you the chance to practice the skills and techniques you’ve learnt. We will also make it fun.
